Standard, the Sportage LX comes with a 2.4-liter engine that delivers 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. In the LX, this gives you 23-city mpg and 30-highway mpg for the front-wheel-drive version and 21-city mpg and 25-highway mpg for the all-wheel-drive version.

The EX trim actually gets the same impressive engine, but due to some slight packaging differences that likely come down to weight, you do have slightly different efficiency numbers in the front-wheel-drive version. The front-wheel-drive Sportage EX gets 22-city mpg and 29-highway mpg. The all-wheel-drive figures remain the same.

We’ve saved the best for last. The top SX trim gets a similar 2.4-liter engine, but this time it has a turbo. With a turbo, it outputs 260 pound-feet of torque regardless of configuration. The front-wheel-drive version of the Sportage SX still offers impressive efficiency with 21-city mpg and 26-highway mpg. The all-wheel-drive version provides similar performance with 20-city mpg and 23-highway mpg.
