2019 Kia Sorento vs 2018 Kia Sorento

No matter what model year you look at, the Kia Sorento is a wonderful option, but with the 2019 model year, it’s getting even better, and we can tell you why with our 2019 Kia Sorento vs 2018 Kia Sorento comparison. We have gone through all the details and found the biggest differences that you should be aware of. Though it is a new model year, much of the styling that the Sorento had for 2018 is carrying over to 2019, at least on the exterior. On the interior however, a lot of work has been done to make the features, technology, and comfort more upscale and luxurious. The 2019 Sorento is an even better place to be.

What’s new for the 2019 Sorento?

Kia sees every model year as a chance to further improve and further refine its models, and that becomes quickly obvious when you look to the 2019 Sorento. Though the 2019 Sorento employs the same 2.4-liter 4-cylinder and 3.3-liter V6 engine options as the 2018 model year, it has managed to greatly improve its fuel economy while still delivering the same great performance numbers.
On the 2.4-liter, the Sorento gives you 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. If you upgrade to the V6, you get 290 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque. This engine still manages to provide 19-city mpg and 26-highway mpg. These are front-wheel drive figures, but all-wheel drive is also available with either engine. For the 2019 model year, Kia has eliminated the 2.0-liter turbo engine from the lineup, but they are currently developing a diesel option to replace it.
Another big change comes in the seating. In previous years, the Sorento came with 5-passenger seating and two rows standard, but it had an option for three rows with 7-passenger seating. For 2019, the three-row configuration now becomes standard as the only option. You won’t have to pick and choose your trim based on which gives your family enough room.
On top of that, the 2019 Kia Sorento has added more technology. Now you can expect available features like wireless phone charging, lane keep assist, driver attention warning, and more. Kia is always improving, and the Sorento is more attractive than ever with the 2019 model year.
