Three-row SUV face-off: Sorento vs Highlander
Kia is a brand that values your money. You will almost always find that their vehicles are more affordable, and with a much better warranty to back it up the value proposition alone makes the Sorento an easy choice even before you look deeper. In case you didn’t know, the Sorento comes with a 10-year or 100,000-mile powertrain and a 5-year or 60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. The Toyota, by contrast, only has a 5-year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty and a 3-year or 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.
On top of saving you money with the purchase price, the Sorento will also save you money at the pumps as it offers fuel economy that is much better than what you can get with the Highlander. Even if you opt for an AWD Sorento, you still get better fuel economy than you would with a front-wheel drvie Highlander at 21-city mpg and 26-highway mpg. Now that’s impressive.
How about the inside? First you will notice the excellent tech. Every year Kia pushes their models further and further into the future, and that’s obvious by the simple fact that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard features on most Kia models and that includes the 2019 Sorento. You can’t get either of these features on the Highlander at all, which is disappointing, especially since the Highlander is more cramped for passenger space than the Sorento. We know what SUV we’d want for our family.
