Time and place for the Akron Marathon
The Akron Marathon will occur on Saturday, September 28th with all races starting at 7:30 a.m. All races begin at the Stan Hywet Entrance at 969 Garman Road.
The races will wind their way through the city to the Canal Park Stadium finish line at 300 South Main street. The courses have all been redesigned and should provide a fun challenge.
Different marathon types in Akron
There are actually two marathons taking place in Akron on the same day. There’s a full marathon and a half marathon. There is also a team relay race that you and a bunch of friends can all participate in. Lastly, the Friday before the event, there is a kid’s fun run that’s entirely free at Lock 3, but you have to register soon! The marathon and team relay both follow the same course. Maps for the marathon and half marathon can be found below.
Where do the proceeds of the Akron Marathon go?
All proceeds from this annual event go to support the Akron Children’s Hospital. Not only is it a city-wide race, but it’s a race for a good cause. Of course, you don’t have to race to donate.
