The Kia Optima is already a wonderfully safe machine, but for the 2020 model year, things are getting even more safe. The LX and S trims already had forward collision avoidance assist as a standard feature, but now that feature will be enhanced with pedestrian detection like it already was on higher trims.

The new trim for the 2020 Kia Optima is the EX Premium. As you would expect, it slots in right above the EX trim. The new lineup for 2020 still starts with the LX. From there it goes S, EX, EX Premium, and the top SX. What is the difference between the EX and the new EX Premium? Let’s dive into that.

The EX Premium still gets the same 1.6-liter turbo that the EX trim had in 2019, meaning that you can now get this engine with two trims instead of one. This also means you get the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission as well.

2020 Kia Optima Harman Kardon sound systemWhen it comes to features, the EX Premium adds a panoramic sunroof, interior ambient lighting, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2 position memory, a 10-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, integrated navigation, a Harman/Kardon premium 10-speaker sound system, and a heated steering wheel.

All that comes with just $3,000 added to the MSRP over the EX. The panoramic sunroof alone is a $2,000 option on the S trim, but here you get it for a little more money and a whole lot of extra features.
